Comic Book TV Buzz: Whatever Happened to that Mockingbird TV Show?

A wise soul out there in the world asked a very salient question of @AgentM (Ryan Penagos) who serves as Marvel’s Executive Editorial Director for Marvel Digital Media Group and Marvel.com. Whatever happened to that Mockingbird TV show that was announced a few years ago?

Here is what Penagos had to say on his tumblr account:

Yeah, I think it was in 2011 when we said we had a few shows in development. Which is not something we usually do. Because “in development” can mean so many things and doesn’t actually mean it’s happening. We didn’t announce that we were doing it, but that we were working on maybe doing it. And, as often happens with stuff that’s in development, it’s not gone to the point of actually happening. Not yet, at least.

But this is why it’s tough to talk about future movies and shows and stuff. The number of projects that could be categorized as “in development” is probably so huge. But it could simply be folks having a conversation about a character/project and wanting to put more thought into it. So they want to develop it further. But that doesn’t guarantee it will ever happen. It could also lead to it happening. Just too tough to tell.

So, for Mockingbird, nothing to speak of at this time.

Barbara Morse, a.k.a. Mockingbird, was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent (Agent 19) who subsequently became a costumed hero, initially known as the Huntress. She would go on to become a West Coast Avenger with her one-time husband Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye. There you have it, no Mockingbird at this time, but she could easily fit into the current Marvel Cinematic Universe either on the big or small screen.
